public alert news:-20 Doctors Graduate in Fellowship in Aero Medical Sciences; Suttur Seer Calls It a ‘Higher Calling to Serve Humanity from the Skies
Mysuru: Congratulating the fellows who completed the Fellowship in Aero Medical Sciences, Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Desikendra Swami said the programme embodies not only academic excellence but also a profound commitment to humanity.
Observing that graduation signifies not the conclusion of training but the commencement of a higher calling, he described the occasion as a pivotal moment where knowledge transforms into responsibility and learning evolves into service.
Addressing the graduating doctors, he said they have embarked on a path that is both rare and demanding, preparing to serve in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). “You will deliver care in some of the most challenging environments, where time is critical, resources are limited, and every decision is crucial. While the world may refer to you as ‘Flying Doctors,’ you are, in essence, healers who bring hope to the skies,” he said.
ICATT Founder Director Dr. Shalini Nalwad said ICATT is among the largest air ambulance service providers in Asia. Established in 2017, the organisation operates bases in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Mysuru, and has completed 260 ECMO transfers and over 2,600 air transfers to date.
Highlighting the organisation’s contributions during the pandemic, she said 550 COVID-related air transfers were undertaken in 2020 alone. ICATT has also set a benchmark by providing free air ambulance services in Madhya Pradesh with the support of the State Government. She noted that the organisation successfully executed one of the most critical and challenging rescue missions involving severely injured CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh, particularly in Bastar—one of the most sensitive regions in the country.
“We have plans to introduce 788 e-planes across India in a phased manner—a one-billion-dollar project,” she added.
A total of 20 doctors graduated from the rigorous Fellowship in Aero Medical Sciences programme conducted by ICATT. The curriculum is accredited by JSS University and was designed in collaboration with KSS Air Ambulance Charity, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
JSS Executive Secretary C.G. Betsurmath, Pro-Chancellor B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor H. Basavangowdappa, FAM Academic Head Dr. Neal Durge, ICATT Founder Director Dr. Rahul Singh Sardar, and JSS Medical College Principal Dr. D. Narayanappa were present on the occasion.
