Public alert news:-Anvitha Narendra Wins Hero Women’s Pro Tour 2026 After Five-Hole Playoff Thriller

Mysuru, June 13: Karnataka golfer Anvitha Narendra showcased grit and composure to clinch the Hero Women’s Pro Tour 2026 title after defeating experienced professional Vani Kapoor in a dramatic five-hole playoff at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) here on Saturday.

Anvitha finished the three-round tournament with an aggregate score of 209 (72, 68, 69), tying with Vani Kapoor at the end of regulation play. The closely fought contest culminated in an intense playoff, where Anvitha finally secured victory with a birdie on the fifth extra hole to claim her second professional title.

The tournament witnessed high-quality golf and fierce competition throughout the week, with the lead changing hands several times before the final outcome was decided. Anvitha’s consistency, coupled with her ability to handle pressure in crucial moments, proved decisive. Speaking after her victory, the young golfer said the triumph held special significance as it came close to her home state. “This feels like my second home. My friends are here, and being so close to Bengaluru and Karnataka makes this victory special,” she said.

The final round began on a challenging note as Anvitha opened with a bogey and found herself two shots behind her playing partner. However, she stayed patient, maintained her rhythm and fought back with timely birdies and crucial chip shots to remain in contention. Anvitha admitted she initially believed she had won the tournament outright and therefore played conservatively on the closing hole. Only later did she learn that Vani Kapoor had fired a brilliant six-under-par round to force a playoff.

Reflecting on the achievement, she noted that while her maiden professional title in 2024 came on a familiar home course, this victory was more satisfying because it was achieved on an unfamiliar layout. “Everything was new—the course, the greens and the conditions. I enjoyed the challenge and I’m happy with how I played,” she said.

Despite her success on the course, Anvitha’s immediate focus now shifts to academics as she prepares for her engineering final examinations. She will then compete in upcoming Women’s Golf India events, including the Clover, Zion, KG and Prestige tournaments, while also targeting qualification for the Ladies European Tour event in Morocco later this year.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by JWGC President H.S. Arun Kumar, Captain M.S. Yeshwanth, Tournament Committee Chairman Phalguna V. Urs, Honorary Secretary K.S. Sudheer Bhat, Honorary Treasurer D.V. Sridhar and other committee members, who congratulated the champion on her remarkable achievement.

With this victory, Anvitha Narendra has further strengthened her reputation as one of Karnataka’s most promising golfing talents and a rising force in Indian women’s golf.
